Supporting Ethiopian people



THE Irish government will channel 35m of taxpayers' cash through the Ethiopian government in the coming year. This despite the fact that, earlier last week, the donor community decided to withhold direct budgetary support worth US $375 million from Ethiopia, following the government's brutal crackdown on opposition supporters last month. In all over 80 protesters were shot dead on the streets of Addis Ababa.
