WHILE we're talking about Spielberg's Munich, life in New York is beginning to feel like being in one of those cool '70s conspiracy movies like The Parallax View or Three Days Of The Condor.
Ever since The New York Times revealed that (a) the NYPD has been covertly spying on its citizenship, courtesy of what it describes as the "robust presence of disguised officers" at events ranging from anti-war protests to pro-cycling rallies, and (b) The Times had been sitting on a story detailing the National Security Agency bugging scandal (the one where the government has been monitoring citizens' phones and emails without a warrant) for over a year.
The Big Question: Is this a safe line?
