RYANAIR is a monster that just keeps on growing. When the airline added a sackful of additional capacity last year, some wondered whether bums could continue to be put on seats in the same numbers. New stats for December show that so far they can.
Ryanair "ew 29% more people in December, carrying 2.8m passengers last month compared with 2.2m in the same month in 2004. Crucially, the load factor . . . the proportion of seats "lled . . . fell by only one percentage point. Analysts expected passenger numbers to increase by about 25% and were impressed with the company's ability to manage its load factor.
In the year to the end of March, Ryanair is expected to carry 35m people, overtaking British Airways in the process.
