A WEEKmay be a long time in politics, but William Hague may need a little longer for people to forget his potshots at Johnny Foreigner last year while on the Tory backbenches.
Responding to a survey which found that Germans had difficulty relaxing while on holiday, he remarked: "If anyone's got a history of making themselves feel at home in other people's countries, it's the Germans." And commenting on reports that France's population was rising, he concluded: "Maybe drinking lots of wine and being totally unreasonable is good for your sex life after all." And what was Hague's early Christmas gift from new boss David Cameron last month? Being made shadow foreign secretary.
