Invincibile breaks Hearts and aids Celtic
Ronnie Esplin

SCOTTISH PREMIERLEAGUE KILMARNOCK 1 HEARTS 0

NEIL MCCANN'S second debut for Hearts lasted only 24 minutes. The former Rangers and Southampton player, who left Tynecastle for Ibrox in 1998, limped off injured to be replaced by Jamie McAllister after failing to shake off the effects of a crunching tackle by Killie defender David Lilley.

In a hard-fought but goalless first 45 minutes, McCann was the first casualty in a match which produced plenty of bone-crunching tackles but little football. But it was to get worse for Hearts.

At the interval Saulius Mikoliunas was replaced by Nerijus Barasa but the move backfired when the home side took the lead with less than a minute gone in the second half. As the Hearts tried to reorganise themselves Colin Nish's turn and shot inside a packed penalty area was blocked but the ball fell to Danny Invincibile who drove home from 10 yards.

Elsewhere Dado Prso struck twice in the dying seconds to give Rangers a 4-1 win over Livingston at Ibrox.
