AIB LEAGUE DIVISION ONE DUNGANNON 17 BELFAST HARLEQUINS 6 Stevenson Park
DUNGANNON scored a morale-boosting win over Ulster rivals Belfast Harlequins in a dour contest at Stevenson Park. Tyrone Howe's second-half try sealed the win for the home side over their error-prone opponents. Mike Clancy eased Harlequins ahead with a fourth-minute penalty, but the home side were level soon after when Gareth Steenson stroked over a similar kick.
The home defence took the lead in the 29th minute when outhalf Steenson landed a second penalty from 45 metres. Dungannon hung on to their slender 6-3 lead until the break, before Steenson extended the advantage with another penalty and in the 48th minute, a turnover in midfield saw Andy Kirkpatrick kick ahead for Howe to chase and touch down.
Steenson and Johnny McClaughlin swapped penalties, and Dungannon held firm to the end.
