I DON'T know how to describe my style, I suppose the best description is 'eclectic'. I still sort of consider getting dressed like a game of 'dress-up' so if I decided I want to look like a little vampire then I'll do it although saying that, I don't labour over my wardrobe each morning, I get dressed in minutes.
I don't shop often but when I do I try and buy really good pieces, pieces that will work with a lot of items in my wardrobe. Most of all, I buy things that will make me smile, I don't care how crazy they might appear to others. At the moment the item that makes me smile most is a necklace; a Vivienne Westwood studded, leather cock. It just brightens up my day and I usually forget that I am wearing it so I've found that half-way through a conversation with someone they usually look quite startled.
I used to have a lot of clipon gold teeth. These are great, you just clip them on and suddenly you're sporting the south-central LA rap artist-look.
I quite like wearing shorts, too, whatever the weather because they are fun. I buy a lot of vintage suits and match them with shorts and a pair of wacky socks and suspenders. People laugh at suspenders but they are totally functional, they keep your socks up!
I think some people take clothes far too seriously and they have lost their sense of irony. Fashion is a form of self-expression, it can be like painting a picture.
I mean, I had so much fun playing dress-up when I was younger, I don't want to lose that.
When I am working with a client I often tell them to ignore all the advice they have ever been given and just pick clothes which make them feel happy because when you feel good, you will look good.
Confidence is the sexiest quality. People should wear clothes as opposed to the clothes wearing them.
