CASTLETHORN Construction were this weekend putting the finishing touches on the first homes to go on sale in Adamstown, the new town being built in west Dublin near Lucan. Over 330 homes go on sale at noon next Thursday, providing the first glimpse of the largest construction site in the country.
This is the first town to be built under Strategic Development Zone legislation which provides a master plan for the entire project and ensures that infrastructure and facilities are built in tandem with the houses.
When completed, Adamstown will be a mid-size town with 10,000 homes and a population of at least 20,000. It will have a town centre with train station, three primary schools, a secondary school and 75 acres of parkland among its many facilities.
"We have had phenomenal interest in the homes, " says Ben Brady, sales manager with Castlethorn. "We wanted to provide a good mix, from one- and two-bed apartments for first-time buyers to three-bed homes for people trading up or trading down, and larger four-bed family homes with flexible layouts.
This is all about building an owner-occupier, sustainable community within a new town." The homes cover every price range and start at 280,000 for a one-bed.
Gunne New Homes have been appointed selling agents by Castlethorn and director Shane Daly says the marketing suite will include models and informational films about the overall development.
"We will also have eight showhouses for people to see the huge variety on offer here." They include, what Daly calls "the best two-bed apartment in Dublin", a stunning apartment which is sure to appeal to a lot of buyers.
Construction is well underway here so buyers will be able to see what this quarter of the town will be like. This phase will be completed by June 2007. Designed by O'Mahony Pike, the buildings are in the signature yellow brick and render used by Castlethorn, with a villagestyle street layout.
