A LEADING Irish Muslim has warned Irish media outlets that "it is the duty of Muslims to punish by the death, the crime of publishing images and cartoons which insult the prophet Mohammed".
Dublin-born Khalid Kelly . . . a former member of the extremist Islamic group, alMuhajiroun, which was led by the controversial Londonbased cleric Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad . . . told the Sunday Tribune that those associated with the publication of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed "should take notice of what happened Theo Van Gogh. . . they should be looking over their shoulder.
I applaud that completely."
Dutch film-maker Van Gogh was murdered in November 2004 after making a film which depicted mistreatment of women in Islamic society.
It is understood that UKbased Kelly has been under constant monitoring by the British security services due to his connection to Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, who has repeatedly supported the call for jihad . . . or holy war . . . against the west. Kelly himself has repeatedly said that, as a Muslim, he applauds the actions of the bombers who participated in the 9/11 attacks on New York, the 3/11 attack on Madrid and last year's July bombing attack on the London transport system.
Kelly also confirmed that he participared in the controversial march to the Dutch embassy in London a fortnight ago, during which protestors carried placards and signs warning that a repeat of the London bomb attack would be inflicted on Dutch targets.
