A man in his mid-20s was approached by two men in the town who knocked him to the ground before firing a gun.

The incident happened at Cooleen's Close near the centre of Clonmel shortly before midday on Friday afternoon.

The man was taken to Cashel hospital where he was treated for minor facial injuries.
