SUNDAY Tribune photographer Mark Condren scooped two honours at this year's AIB Press Photographers Association of Ireland Awards on Friday night. The top prize in the Arts category went to Corkman Condren for his photograph 'On The Fiddle' depicting Carol McLaughlin from The Henrys rehearsing for 'You're A Star' in the Helix in Dublin.
Condren also came second in the News category for a picture taken at Liam Lawlor's funeral, showing the deceased's wife, Hazel, embracing her son. Condren was praised by judges for "technical excellence and imagination, " and was also labelled "a sensitive photographer" for his ability to inject a tenderness of emotion along with drama into his work.
Condren, from Castletownroche, has worked for the Sunday Tribune since 2002.
