Maynooth for the views

HOUSE-HUNTERS on the look-out for real apartment living will be interested in the release of the final 70 apartments at Lyreen Manor in Maynooth.

In the centre of town and a walk from Maynooth train station, the 125 million mixed retail and residential development offers a relaxed living environment with an easy commute to Dublin city, according to the agents.

"The first phase of over 100 units sold very quickly off plans two years ago, " says Des Donnelly of Hooke & MacDonald.

"And with the launch of the show apartments, we're expecting a similar response with these final units."

The 189-unit development is fronted by a walkway along the Lyreen River and has stunning views of the National University of Ireland Maynooth, St Patrick's College and the castle. The Manor Mills shopping centre forms part of the development and recently opened to great success. Building is almost finished and the units should be ready by April.

The layout consists of a series of avenues and a major feature of the development is the landscaping. Specialists Mitchell & Associates have designed open areas and courtyards with planting to take advantage of the views.

Most of the apartments are dual aspect with the emphasis on light and space. Special features include natural gas central heating, Shaker-style kitchens, with fully integrated fridge and dishwasher and a stainless steel oven, hob and chimney hood and washerdryer as standard.

There is wooden flooring in the living and bedrooms and most apartments have French doors onto balconies and terraces. All the apartments have fireplaces and TV/telephone/data points.

All apartments are fitted internally with either an audio or an audiovisual entry phone.

There will be 24-hour security.

Car parking is available for an extra 15,000.

There are eight separate buildings with an average of 20 apartments each. The twobed apartments are 700-895 square feet and three-bed penthouses are 945 . . . 1,195 square feet.

Prices: two-bed apartments from 310,000 and threebed penthouses from 525,000 Agents: Hooke & MacDonald, 01-6318402; Coonan Real Estate Alliance;
