DUBLIN ISEQ 7943.67 Up 2.3% on week The ISEQ index moved towards the 8,000 level on Friday for a weekly gain of 2.3%. Shares in AIB halted the rise somewhat as profit taking set in following two days of significant gains on the back of a strong set of full-year results on Wednesday.
The stock closed unchanged at 2000c. Bank of Ireland decreased 10c to 1490, while Anglo Irish advanced 10c to 1358 and Irish Life and Permanent edged up 12c to 1860. Eircom shares, however, closed flat at 220c.
LONDON FTSE 100 5860.5 Up 0.2% on week UK stocks increased on Friday, led by WPP and Lloyds TSB after the companies reported better-than-expected earnings.
National Grid gained after saying it is in talks to acquire KeySpan. Capita Group advanced after UBS recommended investors buy the shares.
Shares of Lonmin decreased after the world's third-largest platinum producer ended takeover talks. WPP, the world's second-biggest advertising company, climbed 7.9% to 668p.
EUROPE Euro Stoxx 50 3514.49 Up 0.6% on week European stocks climbed last week. Lloyds TSB added 4.7% to 566.5p. The bank reported that second-half net income increased to £1.3bn as an increase in corporatebanking income outweighed a slowing in consumer loans.
Natexis added 6.9% to 174.7.
NEW YORK DOW 11,061.85, up 1.5% Nasdaq 2,287.04, unch S&P 500 1,289.43, up 0.2% A rise in energy shares including Exxon Mobil pushed the Standard & Poor's 500 Index higher on Friday. For the week, indexes stalled near four-year highs as signs of a robust economy prompted speculation that Fed will raise interest rates.
