Metropolitan, Bangkok The Metropolitan, part of Christina Ong's Como Hotels and Resorts empire, is a cool, modern retreat in Bangkok's business district that aims to attract the kind of set who are familiar with the hotel's sister hotel in London . . . also called the Metropolitan.
What's the best thing?
The style: you just can't get away from it. There are 171 rooms and suites and the soothing interiors are a vision of neutral beiges and creams. The yoga mat in the wardrobe almost tempted me to head downstairs to the yoga studio and the Shambhala spa. But the Thai silk cushion-strewn bed, the free green tea and the soft pillows seemed like a much more immediate jet-lag cure.
Will it break the bank?
Double rooms are priced from 140, including breakfast.
Nearest airport?
Bangkok's international airport is a 30-minute taxi ride away, costing about 8.
Or you could treat yourself to the hotel limo, priced at 30, one way.
