Three men in court on IRA charges



THREE Wexford men appeared before the Special Criminal Court yesterday charged with IRA membership. Forty-five-year-old Billy Philips from Maudlintown, 55-year-old Jackie Bates from Drinagh, and 31-year-old Robert Kearns from Maudlintown were arrested on Wednesday and accused of membership of an illegal organisation. Bates was also charged with possession of a firearm, while Kearns was accused of possessing an explosive device.
