Louth period house is kept in the family for 7m

BLACK Hall, a 650sq m (7,000 sq ft) period house on 103 acres in the townland of Termonfeckin, Co Louth, recently sold for a record sum of almost 7m. It could have sold for an even higher figure, but owners Clive and Pam Bagnall, for whom Black Hall has been a family home for the past 20 years, refused an offer of an additional 100,000 from a developer over and above what they finally settled for.

The property had originally been put on the market for 6.2m.

According to selling agents Gunne, the couple wanted the late 18thcentury house, which contains historic features including very ornate plaster work, fine marble fireplaces and tall sash windows, to remain as a family home as they were so happy there, and the new owners Sinead and Gary Brown, are set to carry on that tradition.

Black Hall is four miles north of Drogheda town centre, near the M1 motorway and 35 minutes' drive to airport.
