Modern Kinsealy home displays old arts and crafts
Valerie Shanley

ANexterior built with reclaimed brick, plus open fireplaces made with the same mellow material, give Trieste . . . a four-bed dormer- style property at No 4a Baskin Lane, Kinsealy, Co Dublin . . . a very traditional feel.

Despite those old-world trappings, this detached home was only recently built and comes to the market in readyto-walk-into condition, and a wealth of fine materials in the detail.

This is also a bright home, with natural light maximised by the feature lead windows throughout and also through the stained-glass panels either side of the front door which flow sunshine into the wide entrance hall. This hall, spacious and elegant, introduces the entire house and is large enough to accommodate a decorative console table or perhaps a large leafy houseplant or two. The hall also soars up to the railed gallery at dormer level above, and light flows back down via Velux rooflights in the sloping ceiling. Another feature that enhances the bright interior is the use of hardwood flooring in all rooms, giving a sense of flow to the space. The heart of the house is the large Lshaped kitchen, which has hand-made oak presses and a central island unit with granite top. Double doors interconnect to the spacious living-cum-sitting room with large bay window.

Further accommodation at ground-floor level comprises the first bedroom with ensuite shower room; the study with cast-iron fireplace and large bay window; and the guest cloakroom. Upstairs is that large, bright gallery landing that overlooks the reception hall.

Leading off is the master bedroom with en-suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe. All these spaces have skylights, as do the tiled main bathroom and two further bedrooms, also with built-in wardrobes.

Outside, the front garden is landscaped and there are electrically controlled entrance gates. To the rear is an extensive deck and lawn beyond. Overall, this is a bright home, nicely styled, yet enough of a blank canvas to allow the next imaginative owners make their mark.

Along with all that, there is also the close proximity to Malahide and all that the seaside village has to offer.
