The shops are full of summer bulbs such as allium, gladioli and lilies.
These are ready for planting throughout March, but take care with both how you choose bulbs and plant them.
If you are buying loose bulbs, make sure they are "rm and not spongy or mouldy.
Before you plant, add loose compost and grit to the base of your planting hole. Roots establish much more easily in the loose compost, while the grit allows the rain to drain off rather than accumulating and rotting the bulb.
