THE annual exhibition of the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club takes place at the end of the month, once again with a stellar array of big name artists.
The show takes place from Monday 27 March until Sunday 9 April at the Dun Laoghaire County Hall and has attracted huge attendances since it moved there seven years ago.
One of the country's largest group exhibitions, it features a wide range of contemporary works in various media as well as the drawings, sketches and watercolours that the club's name suggests.
There will be 252 exhibits by 72 contemporary artists with a variety of styles and subjects, ranging from landscapes and seascapes to the pure abstract. Portraits and nudes with figurative and abstract treatments will also be shown. Prices range from just under 200 for a small watercolour up to several thousand for oils.
Among the club's current members are many important artists of the day such as Patrick Cahill, Brid Clarke, James English, Olivia Hayes, Nancy Larchet and the club's president Breda Reilly, all of whom will be taking part at this 128th exhibition.
There will also be an In Memoriam panel with paintings by the late member artist Gerald Davis. A Studio Day, with demonstrations by members will take place on Saturday 1 April, from 11.00am.
