>> Party conference season continues with the Greens off to Kilkenny next weekend, while next month, the PDs gather in their spiritual home of Limerick, and Labour enjoys a day out at the Helix in Dublin. 'Preparing for Government' is the Labour theme and the party is making no attempt to hide the fact that it will use its two-hour Saturday-morning live TV slot on RTE as an extended party political broadcast. "The session will showcase many of the party's general election candidates under the theme 'New Candidates: New Ideas', " Labour says. The Greens meet next weekend not for a 'conference' but rather for a 'convention', with Trevor Sargent promising that several platform speakers may even be ministers in the next government. Dublin Mid-West TD and Arts spokesman Paul Gogarty is likely to be the busiest politician in Kilkenny. Gogarty will judge the children's art competition, which is meant to keep the kiddies busy as the grown-ups play at politics. (Yes, the Greens are different). Prizes include a toy solar boat and a water power calculator (Yes, you read that correctly).
