Vintage style in genteel Greystones
June |Edwards

AGENTS Lisney are expecting strong interest in Liscelta, an impressive late Victorian house in Greystones, Co Wicklow, which they are bringing to auction next month, with an advised minimum value of 2.25m.

On Killincarrig Road, this charming detached property has a railed front garden and large walled rear garden.

Built in 1895, the property has a very authentic Victorian feel to it, with most of the period features intact, and the decor very much in keeping with the original style of the house.

And with a floor area of 287sq m (3,100sq ft), this is a large home by any standards.

Accommodation comprises a reception hall, drawingroom, diningroom, staircase hall, sittingroom, study, kitchen/breakfastroom, five bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms, and one main bathroom.

Well-maintained, the property is presented in very good condition. A mosaic-tiled entrance porch opens into the spacious reception hall, which has ceiling coving, centre rose, and picture rail.

From here, there is access into the drawingroom, a room of about 17ft x 15ft which has a large bay window overlooking the front garden, period ceiling coving, picture rail and an impressive marble fireplace with slate hearth.

Beyond the drawingroom, is the formal diningroom, with yet another large marble fireplace, ceiling coving and centre rose.

A long staircase hall provides access to the guest wc, a good-sized sittingroom with period fireplace, and study with bookshelves and built-in desk unit.

To the back of the house there is a large kitchen andbreakfastroom of about 23ft x 15ft, which come with integrated appliances, recessed lighting and patio doors to the garden.

A fine period staircase leads upstairs, and there is a feature window on the halflanding level. The main bedroom, which has a bay window overlooking the front garden, has an en-suite full bathroom and dressingroom.

All five bedrooms are doubles and one other bedroom also has an en-suite showerroom.

The large back garden is beautifully designed to incorporate a curved lawn with paved patio and walkways, and planted areas with mature trees and shrubs. A pond with remote-controlled water feature and outdoor lighting also adds to the landscaped look of the garden.

AMV: 2.25m, auction 11 April Agent: Lisney 01-2806820
