PIERSEHomes have opened the first showhouses at The Greens, their popular residential development in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, which should draw quite a bit of interest from buyers looking for good-sized family homes with gardens and easy access to facilities.
The first 20 homes sold from plans here last year and are now almost ready to move into. The developers have released a second phase to coincide with the completion of the showhouses. When completed there will be 100 houses at The Greens, mainly three- and four-bed semis, with a small number of detached houses.
This is an attractive site which is midway between the Mount Juliet Estate and Thomastown village, close to local shops, schools and facilities. Kilkenny city is just 10 miles away and Waterford is 20 miles south east. The development is just opposite the railway station, which should make commuting to Kilkenny very easy.
Thomastown is well-preserved, with some historic buildings and brightly painted houses.
It's a lively spot with a strong craft industry, and craft college at the edge of the town. The town also has several pubs and restaurants.
Designed by architect Feargall Kenny, The Greens is a traditional-style development where houses are laid out around open greens. Houses combine a smooth render finish with traditional overhanging porches, and timber doors and windows. A lot of emphasis is placed on landscaping with trees planted on all roads, giving the estate a settled look from the start.
Three-bed semis have a floor area of 104sq m (1120sq ft), while four-beds are around 124sq m (1340sq ft). All homes come with landscaped back gardens with timber decks, contemporary fitted kitchens, and fireplaces in livingrooms, while all bedrooms have builtin wardrobes and main bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms.
Price: three-bed semis from 275,000, and four-bed semis from 310,000.
