THE country's largest estate agency has linked up with the oldest professional golf championship for the 2006 event at Druid's Glen . . . and also plans to fundraise against the closure of one of the country's oldest hospitals.
Sherry FitzGerald has entered into an agreement with the Irish PGA for the championship held between 14-17 September for the first time ever at the Co Wicklow course.
The tournament has a prize fund of 140,000, making it the largest closed national PGA championship in Europe.
"As a national business with offices countrywide we see this as an opportunity to develop relationships throughout the country and promote our brand and the various businesses within the group.
"The Sherry FitzGerald Group is also about to embark on a major fundraising project with Temple Street Children's Hospital and we plan to link this to some of the activities surrounding the championship, " said Philip Sherry, managing director of the agency.
The current holder of the PGA championship is Padraig Harrington, who won both in 2004 and 2005. His rival golfer Paul McGinley has a total of four wins.
