BRIEF ENCOUNTERMATTHEW DEVEREUX, LEAD SINGER, THE PALE

If I could be anyone for a day it would bef A golf course owner who's had a breakdown and signed over his land to a scheme to house the homeless.

No matter how hard I try, I will never be able tof Go on an 18-30 package holiday.

The TV show I never tire of isf A Prayer at Bedtime . . . even though I'm usually tired by the time it comes on.

I am at my happiest when. . .

People tell me that life begins at 40.

The first person I call when something goes wrong isf Someone who has bigger problems. That way my problem will seem like nothing.

My biggest indulgence isf Getting excited and pointing at the radio shouting "That's me!"

The one CD I return to time and time again isf Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.

My holiday heaven is. . .

Bettystown, June 1975. Two pence slot machines and dodgem operators with Elvis Presley sideburns.

If I could have one night with anyone, it would bef The King of the little people.

I would keep him up all night so he would grant any wish I wanted in the morning.

The Pale's new EP 'The Final Garden' is out now. They play The Roisin Dubh, Main Street, Galway on 15 April
