ANEW homes launch in Dublin 15 sold out at the rate of a 1m a minute last week when McPeake Auctioneers took a mere 25 minutes to clear 30m worth of property from its books.
Cruise Park, the latest phase of Twinlite Developments' scheme at Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15, drew scores of buyers prepared to queue overnight to secure one of the 70 units released.
Prices ranged from 245,000 for a two-bed detached house up to 405,000 for a four-bed.
Since the initial launch from plans five years ago, this development has been a success among a range of buyers, from first-timers to young families seeking a house with a garden.
Including this week's launch, there is a total of 320 units at Tyrellstown, while the final phase will comprise 2,100 homes on the 200-acre west Dublin site.
The speedy sales demonstrated that buyers are increasingly discerning in terms of the facilities and services that should be part of any good development, says Robert McCormack from the selling agents, adding that a whole new neighbourhood has been created within 15kms from the city centre.
"Yet again this shows the strength of the market, especially developments aimed at the first-time buyers and thankfully, the vast majority of the successful purchasers were owner-occupiers. The fact that all the units were houses with back gardens and that infrastructure such as shopping facilities, public transport routes and a primary school are all within the development are significant factors in the popularity of Tyrrelstown."
The next phase of Cruise Park will be launched in the autumn.
