RYANAIR plans to overtake Poland's LOT airline as the country's market leader within the next five years, just 12 months after entering the market.
Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary was reported last week as saying that Ryanair will fly 1.6million passengers in and out of Poland this year, compared to LOT's total of 4.5m passengers.
Last year Ryanair's Polish operations carried 260,000 fliers.
O'Leary said that Ryanair will establish three bases in Poland by 2011 and fly 10million passengers on "national routes".
LOT is planning to bolster its position by expanding its flight network.
