Starwood Hotels and Resorts has appointed Ciara Byrne director of sales and marketing for the Sheraton Fota Island golf resort and spa in Cork, which will open in early May. Before joining Sheraton, Byrne was the revenue manager for Choice Hotels Ireland and was previously manager of Starwood's European property reservations, revenue training and support section.

Martin Adams has been appointed special risks director with insurance broker Arachas.

Based in Cork, his role will be to develop and drive the company's professional liability and special risks insurance division nationally. Adams has more than 22 years' experience in professional indemnity and special risks insurance and has worked in London and the Middle East. He joins Arachas from Jardine Lloyd Thompson.

Fiona McGloin has been appointed to the board of Jigsaw Management. She joined the company in 2001 after a 10-year career in the leisure management industry and will continue leading major projects and campaigns.

Stena Line has appointed Orla Noonan route marketing manager for the central corridor. She will have responsibility for all route marketing activities on the Dun Laoghaire-Holyhead and Dublin-Holyhead routes and will continue overseeing internet marketing for all Irish sea routes.

The Moriarty Group has appointed Stephen Williams group marketing manager. With a degree in marketing and French, Williams started his career with Shannon Development where he spent two years working in the tourism sector. Following this, he was employed as marketing manager with An �?ige and then moved to Choice Hotels, working in group marketing support and as marketing manager for the Quality Hotel in Dublin.

Conal Henry has been appointed CEO at regional broadband infrastructure provider e-net. Before joining e-net Henry was MD of Energis Ireland. He has a law degree from Queen's University Belfast.

Clem Walshe has been appointed head of marketing at Budget Travel. Walshe will oversee the marketing function of the organisation including strategic planning, product design, advertising, media relations and web-based communications. Formerly operations manager for Budget Travel, Walshe has more than 28 years' experience in the travel industry.

Alan Hickey is the new head chef at the Hayfield Manor Hotel in Cork. He joined from the Clarence in October 2004 and in his new role will develop the five-star menus at Perrotts and Orchids. Hickey has worked at the Chateau St Gerlach and the Chateau Neercanne - a Michelin-starred restaurant - in the Netherlands. A graduate of Cork Institute of Technology, he has also worked at Sheen Falls Lodge.

Seniors Money has appointed Alan Kelly operations director.

Kelly joins Seniors Money from the IFG Group where he held various senior roles including managing director of its business consultancy and development division.
