The Small Firms Association (SFA) national employment survey shows that a decrease of 18pc is expected in the number of new jobs created in the small business sector in 2006. An estimated 50,243 jobs are to be created in 2006, compared to 61,003 in 2005. The director of the SFA, Patricia Callan, said that this is a further demonstration that given an economic environment committed to low in. ation, low taxes and low interest rates, small business will respond by creating jobs and boosting economic growth. Some 78pc of companies said they are more likely to expand in 2006 if trading conditions are right. This figure is up from 64pc in 2005.
