DYLAN BRADSHAW HAIRDRESSER
I'D OFTEN end up working late on a Saturday and I'm usually fairly wiped at the end of the week so I don't usually go out on Saturday night and if I do it'll just be a quiet dinner somewhere.
Sunday is for regrouping and recuperating.
I moved to Enniskerry a couple of weeks ago. I feel a bit middle-aged, it's probably the beginning of the end. We bought a house with a good bit of land so I suppose if you were to ask me all this in a year's time I'll be spending my Sundays cutting the grass on a sit-on lawnmower. My girlfriend Charlotte is pregnant and so I suppose I'll be changing nappies too. I'm looking forward to it although it'll be a bit of a change. I'm going to become a statistic. Either that or we'll be like the von Trapp family.
I'm a biker and I'd usually head off down to Wicklow for a spin around the countryside on Sunday morning. I'm in town or travelling all week and it's great to be heading away from the city rather than towards it. I go with a few friends . . . Jason, Kenny and Bill are my regular companions . . . and we'd go somewhere like Sally's Gap or the Wicklow Gap. I have a Kawasaki VN 1500 which is one of those big touring bikes.
We take the bikes off on a trip through Europe once a year. After our ride we'd go for a late breakfast somewhere in Roundwood or Laragh, or at Rose's Tea Rooms in Annamoe which is a real biker hangout.
I'd be home around lunchtime and then Charlotte and I would head out for lunch. I'm in town all week and I try and avoid going in on a Sunday. I like Tribes in Glasthule and I wish Marc Michel's restaurant in Kilpedder would open on Sundays, it's my favourite place of all. He has an organic farm and in the middle of it there's a restaurant where he serves the most amazing organic food. He's not a client of mine although I'm one of his . . . probably because he doesn't have any hair. After lunch I like a couple of quiet hours with the papers or maybe we might catch a movie.
With most hairdressers, Sunday tends to be the big night out . . . it's our Saturday.
Very few of my friends would have Monday to Friday, nine to five, kind of jobs so there are usually plenty of people around to rope in for a night out.
My friends would be musicians, producers and promoters. One guy works in property. They don't have to get up early on Monday morning. I don't really like going to bars so we'd usually meet for dinner . . . my favourite place is Town Bar and Grill on Kildare Street.
A couple of nights recently we've gone on to the new casino on South Anne Lane to play a bit of blackjack or roulette. It's a bit of fun, none of us takes it too seriously. I take along about NUMBER_STRING200 with the intention of losing it. The last time we went I actually won NUMBER_STRING500 and one of the lads made a couple of grand.
Sunday's usually a late night, it's great not having to get up early on a Monday.
