NEVER underestimate the effect of some artfully applied eyeshadow. The sweep of a brush can take you from fresh-faced ingenue to smoky-eyed vamp. In terms of choice, there are so many options that we'd be here all day if I tried to categorise it.
Suffice to say that pressed powder is still the most popular and preferred choice.
Getting it right is partly about choosing the right one but mostly about application.
I have a fondness at the moment for dark shimmer shadows and up until recently this was proving a tricky task as half of the shadow made its way onto my cheeks and I was left having to reapply my foundation. It seems that I was using the wrong brush; to keep it from ending up anywhere other than your cheeks use a very short haired brush , , this gives you far more control as the shorter brushes will splay less and your eyeshadow will stay exactly where you wanted it.
If you're still struggling to keep it off your cheeks why not place a tissue or powder puff underneath your eye as you work and that should catch the fallout. Or if you want to be a real smarty pants, apply your shadow before your foundation and then one quick wipe will get rid of the mess. Now, I know that sounds like common sense but I'm a creature of habit and I just prefer to do foundation first and that's that! To keep the shadow exactly where you want it place two fingers on either side of your lid to stop the brush from decorating the rest of your face.
And, finally I just can't say enough about blending , , this is how to finish off your eye shadow seemlessly. You should not be able to see where one shade ends and the other begins as they merge into each other perfectly. After some simple practice you will know how to stop traffic with your gorgeous peepers!
