A spacious place to entertain in the garden of Ireland
June Edwards

GLENTON, a large detached house on a 0.83-acre site, has come onto the market and is situated at Glen Road in Delgany, Co Wicklow.

Although newly built, the property has been designed to traditional period style, complete with large bay and tall chimneys.

Set on a sloping site, the house has two storeys to the front, with a lower ground floor to the rear.

High ceilings and large reception rooms combine to make this an impressive house.

Well styled and fitted out, Glenton is ready to walk into and would make an ideal large family home.

With a floor area of 377sq m (4058sq ft), there's lots of space here.

At ground level, there is a large reception hall, drawing room, dining room, conservatory, family room, guest WC and cloakroom, and kitchen cum breakfast room.

Most of the rooms have interconnecting doors, making this a great property for large-scale entertaining, while the breakfast room opens out onto a decked balcony with steps down to the garden.

The lower ground floor has been designed for use as a self-contained suite, which also opens out to the garden, and comprises another large kitchen cum living/dining room, utility room, sun room, pantry, double bedroom and bathroom.

Upstairs on the first floor there is a large landing with a circular light well, and five bedrooms, three with en-suites and the main bathroom. One of the rear bedrooms also opens out to a spacious decked balcony.

No expense seems to have been spared at Glenton, with Portuguese limestone flooring laid in the reception hall, kitchen and breakfast area. The kitchen is fitted with bespoke oak and cream units with solid marble worktops and integrated appliances, while elegant fireplaces have been fitted in the drawing room and family room.

All rooms have high ceilings, and the house is fronted by hand-cut Donegal quartz entrance pillars and walls.

The gardens are mainly laid in lawn with a large herbaceous border, and sweeping driveway which leads to a private courtyard. And the 'Tree Trout River' runs along the eastern boundary of the site.

AMV: 2.8 million at auction on May 9th.
