Victorian vintage inmodernGreystones
Helen Rogers

TRIPLETON HOUSE On Bellevue Road in Greystones Co Wicklow is a superb late Victorian house with many original features intact but showing its age a little.

It is for auction on 17 May next through Hassetts, who have put an AMV of 1.3m on this beautiful four-bed 1800 sq ft (167 sq m) home.

The house needs upgrading, say the agents, so it will appeal to a buyer who wants a family home with a wealth of period features from the original shutters and sash windows, to high ceilings with cornicing and coving.

Unlike many period homes, this one also has a lovely garden with off-street car parking, a 200 sq ft detached garage, manicured lawns, a greenhouse, patio and rose beds as well as mature palm trees.

The house itself is semidetached and bay-windowed with a fine tiled entrance porch, wide hall, three reception rooms, kitchen and four bedrooms.

The sitting room has a marble fireplace with tiled inset, high ceilings, bay window overlooking the southfacing front garden, while the dining room, kitchen and study are at the back and open onto the garden.

A bedroom and the family bathroom and toilet are on the return up to the first floor where two more double bedrooms are situated. The fourth bedroom is on the second return.

The house is just around the corner from the shops, boutiques and restaurants that have transformed Greystones in the past few years from a sleepy seaside village into a stylish local centre.

Demand in this area is currently very strong, according to the agents, mainly because the N11 and Dart have made it so much more accessible.

New amenities and businesses that have accompanied the largescale housing development at Charlesland and Eden Gate in Delgany have also given the pretty village a much livelier and smarter atmosphere, without the loss of its intrinsic character.

Price: AMV 1.3million; auction 17 May Agent: Hassett 01 - 2870068
