Seaside homes offer serenity while still near the city
June Edwards

KNIGHTSTONE Construction have just launched Golden Ridge, an interesting traditional housing scheme in Rush, Co Dublin. Aimed at first-time buyers and young families looking for decentsized houses with gardens, within reasonable commuting distance of the city centre, Golden Ridge has six styles of home available, all three- and four-beds. Prices start from 362,000 for a three-bed.

What's interesting about Golden Ridge is that they include a three-bed detached house, normally quite rare, as most detached houses are larger four and five-beds which tend to be more costly.

This double-fronted, detached three-bed has a floor area of 102sq m (1,100sq ft), and accommodation includes a kitchen and dining room to one side of the main hall, with a large living room on the other side, running from the front to the back of the house.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, with the main room having an en suite shower and walk-in wardrobe. The main bathroom is also a good size.

Three-bed mid-terraces have a floor area of 89sq m (958sq ft), and include a goodsized kitchen cum dining room to the front of the house, with a separate living room running the width of the house.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, the main en suite, and a family bathroom. All rooms have built-in wardrobes.

Also available is a four-bed semi-detached house of 127sq m (1,364sq ft) where accommodation includes a hall, living room, kitchen/dining room and sun room. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, main en suite and the family bathroom.

Other house styles include a three-bed semi-detached house, and a four-bed detached.

Close to Main Street Rush, Golden Ridge is on the Skerries Road. About 17 miles from the city centre, the seaside village of Rush in north Co Dublin, has become a popular spot for young homehunters in recent years.

There are plenty of shops, schools and local amenities, and a link by train to the city.

Rush is a 10 minute drive to Skerries, while Swords town is less than 15 minutes away, as is Dublin Airport. All houses come with private gardens, and homes have different finishes including painted plaster and brick.

Construction is well under way and the first phase is due to be ready by October, with the entire development completed by the end of 2007.

Golden Ridge, Skerries Road, Rush, Co Dublin.

Price: three-bed mid-terraced from 362,000, three-bed semis from 394,000, three-bed detached from 425,000 and four-bed from 485,000.

Agent: Leahy New Homes 01-6243060.
