Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova The Swell Season Plateau Records (42m 38s) . .
The Frames frontman is joined by Czech musicians Marketa Iglova, Marja Tuhkahen and Bertrand Galen on this collection of earnest love songs. Unfortunately, Hansard's voice is far too strained to carry off a stripped-down record. Nor is much effort put into the musical arrangements, with watery strings and keys muted by clumsy guitar strums. You'd "nd more lyrical invention on a Disney soundtrack.

Sweden strikes again. With Jose Gonzalez, Love Is All, The Knife and OK GO all enjoying the indie love, here comes an equally diverse countryman. And country it is too, with Kjellvander adopting a Brokeback Mountain drawl thanks to spending a good part of his childhood in the States. But if you block out the Eddie Vedder snogging Tim McGraw sound, there are some very pretty lo-" songs here. 'Roaring 40s' and 'Silver and Blue Line' are both aching and lonesome.

Damn you Sweden! Here's some punk blues noir for those who are missing that genre from their collection. Deltahead is a screwed-up dirty punk twosome from Stockholm whose avant guarde live performances are gaining some respect, if not confusion. Heavy bass, distorted slide guitar, fuzzy radio interference, swearing, and lyrics that mainly concern getting down on one's knees and stealing each other's money. Mostly, the album is far too dirty and drunken to maintain any coherence, but interesting and fun, nonetheless.

Goo Goo Dolls Let Love In Warner Brothers (42m 08s) .This CD was one of those that come in neon orange promo covers with ACHTUNG WATERMARKED DISC! all over it and triangular 'yield' signs and a list of terms and conditions to read before breaking the seal. Seriously. What a fantastic ploy to make utterly boring soft-rock vaguely interesting. Apart from that one City Of Angels soundtrack song these boys had years ago that 98fm likes, what have they done? This is full on dirge made for the scene where the love interest cleans lint from the hero's scar.

No doubt the Domino fat cats have been blowing their noses on trillion dollar bills since signing Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys in quick succession. But, between such imaginary orgies, they've compiled 14 tracks from other players in the Domino catalogue. A lot of it is mediocre, notably Psapp and Quasi's contributions. A track from the now defunct Test Icicles along with the minimal electro of Junior Boys, Four Tet plus the fantastic Sons and Daughters provide the highlights.
