Carolyn Sampson/The King's Consort/Robert King Mozart: Exultate Jubilate!
Hyperion (A 67560) . . . . .
There is a depth in Carolyn Sampson's voice which I "nd far too rarely in sopranos but it is the support for her trademark lyricism which she brings here to Mozart's scared settings for solo soprano and orchestra. The sound production on this CD is the best I've heard in a while, measured by absolute smoothness and a carving out of a terri"c orchestral timbre which takes inspiration from the vocal forces. Every nuance here is both subtle and profound, a triumph in itself.
