Young Norwegian drummer Thomas Stronen assembles a half-Norwegian, half-Swedish group for a recording straight from the heart of the ECM tradition. This is the sort of record hi-" nerds will use to test their equipment, so pure and minimal are the sounds. But don't let that put you off. Every now and then, a moment of pure magic happens, mostly due to the presence at the piano of the great Bobo Stenson. The results are not for swingers, but in the more lyrical passages, Stenson in particular proves why he is regarded as one of Europe's most important musicians.
