A LARGE number of observations . . . believed to be well over 100 . . . have been handed into Dublin City Council, regarding concerns over the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road. One which remains on the table is that of Wanderers RFC who are deadlocked with the IRFU over there allocation of both tickets and facilities in the new ground.
Wanderers are believed to have held informal talks with the IRFU around mid-March which failed to end the deadlock. The news will worry the IRFU in light of the comments made last week by new GAA president Nickey Brennan who claimed that unless planning permission was received within the next 18 months, any amendments to Rule 42 would be reviewed.
This could mean that Croke Park would be withdrawn as an alternative venue to Lansdowne Road, forcing the IRFU and FAI to look elsewhere for alternatives.
