Employees with ill relatives were given good news this week with the announcement that the carer's leave entitlements have increased from 65 to 104 weeks. The extension came into effect on 24 March, meaning those who applied for carer's leave on or after that date are entitled to it.
Employees already on carer's leave under arrangements agreed with their employers should return to work on the agreed date and then re-apply for the balance.
