GARDAI are investigating the stabbing of a prisoner in Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Friday evening.
The 22-year-old victim was in a stable condition in the Mater Hospital last night after receiving emergency treatment. He was stabbed in the throat during an attack by another prisoner in the recreation area of the prison. Prison authorities called in the gardai to investigate the attack.
It is understood that the victim is serving a sentence for car-related crimes and is due for release in June. Prison inmates were yesterday being questioned about the incident but no arrests had been made.
