DUBLIN City Council hosted a book club with a difference last Wednesday, as part of its 'One City, One Book' initiative to encourage all those living, working and visiting the capital to read a book closely associated with the city this summer.
Guests boarded the Liffey Voyage for porter, sandwiches, a view of the Liffey and a discussion on Flann O'Brien's novel AtSwim-Two-Birds. O'Brien was once described by James Joyce as "a real writer with the true comic spirit".
At-Swim-Two-Birds takes the reader around the back streets and landmarks of Dublin city in the 1930s. The city council's initiative is sponsored by the Sunday Tribune and Penguin Ireland.
