Last 20 homes in popular Ballinteer scheme
June Edwards

ANYONE looking for an upmarket apartment in the Ballintyre residential scheme in Ballinteer, Dublin 16, gets a final chance this weekend, with the launch of the very last 20 units. One of the most popular residential schemes to go on sale in the past couple of years, Ballintyre won the Irish Development of the Year Award for 2005.

Close to Dundrum and about 20 minutes' walk from the new shopping centre, Ballintyre comprises a mix of 420 apartments and 118 three-bed, four-bed and five-bed houses. Designed by architects McCrossan O'Rourke Manning, it has drawn much interest, say the developers.

"We focused on the development of the site and the details that would be important for peaceful living in a mature setting, such as the preservation of the trees, the layout and design of the large open spaces and the use of the granite kerbs, " explains Ray Grehan, managing director of Glenkerrin Homes.

Available in this final phase is a selection of two- and three-bed apartments and penthouses. Twobed apartments are larger than average at 78 square metres (840 square feet), while three-bed apartments are 97 square metres (1044 square feet). Apartments have good-sized hallways, large kitchen/ living/dining areas opening onto balconies, bedrooms, one en-suite and a main bathroom.

Also available are some of the spectacular three-bed penthouse suites with a floor area of 150 square metres (1614 square feet).

Penthouses have elegant hallways with large double doors into bright living/dining rooms, while just off the dining area is a spacious designer kitchen. Many of the penthouses have walk-in dressing rooms and en-suite in the main bedroom. All apartments include custom-made fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, bathrooms with Adagio sanitary ware, recessed lighting in hall, sitting room and kitchen and decorative radiator covers in hallways. Prices also include underground parking. The show unit is open for viewing and interiors are by Linda Burke, and Deluxe.

Price: two-bed apartments from 465,000; three-bed apartments from 555,000; three-bed penthouses from 895,000.

Agent: Hamilton Osborne King (016181300)`
