Irish buy tasty slice of Cornish property
Helen Rogers

IRISH buyers have shown a huge appetite for a Cornish holiday home scheme in the heart of an area where prices have reached boiling point thanks to the presence of celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein.

Irish people bought over 70% of homes at Trenython Manor, a holiday home development being developed by CLC country Homes.

The 10-year guaranteed rental has proven a big draw but Cornwall itself is now officially the strongest growing market in Britain with prices there quadrupling in the past decade.

CLC Country Homes's latest project is at Hustyns in north Cornwall. The new 90-acre Hustyns Hotel & Spa development in St Breock Downs in north Cornwall includes 20 pretty country cottages which will be launched in July, all with the leaseback option and 10-year guaranteed.

The cottages are finished to a very high spec and prices start at £400,000 ( 590,000) for a threebed/three-bath home. The leaseback option gives a guaranteed rental return of 6% per annum up to 2016.

Because CLC Country Homes has had so much interest it has decided to offer special pre-launch open weekends throughout June for clients who have registered on its priority mailing list.
