Aer Lingus 70 years old



IRISH state carrier Aer Lingus celebrated its 70th birthday yesterday. The airline had its inaugural day on 20 May 1936, when it landed in Bristol with five passengers and a bundle of Irish newspapers. These days, eight million passengers travel on the airline's 79 worldwide routes every year.
