TRAINER Aidan O'Brien has indicated that he is likely to be three-handed for next Saturday's Boylesports Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh, with French 2,000 Guineas runner-up Marcus Andronicus, and Hurricane Cat, expected to join O'Brien's runaway English 2,000 Guineas hero George Washington in the line-up.
The sponsors make George Washington an odds-on chance to follow up on home ground, but Kieren Fallon's mount has eased in the antepost betting, as sustained support has come for Decado, from the Kevin Prendergast stable. Decado has impressed on both his outings this season and the colt's odds were trimmed from 6/1 to 4/1 clear second favourite last Monday.
The racing action today on the home front is at Gowran Park and Navan. The Kilkenny venue passed a course inspection on Friday morning, but the ground is still expected to be very testing.
The Michael Grassick-trained Major Title hasn't won a race for some time now, but he has a good chance of success in the Gowran Park Race. The selection has been running consistently well in recent weeks, and gets the vote to prove superior to Peineve, a winner at the last meeting here, and Dancing Sky.
Dermot Weld, who trains Dancing Sky, is fancied to collect with Brave Falcon in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 2-YO Maiden, but the honours in the following event, the threeyear-old maiden, may go to a more locally-trained horse, Financial Reward, from the Willie Mullins yard.
The booking of Michael Kinane for James Leavy's Shayrazan in the Kilkenny Handicap could prove significant, while the Joe Crowleytrained Snowfox holds most appeal in the concluding Gowran Handicap.
Meanwhile, at Navan, Willie Mullins is nominated to complete an across-theboard double through Adamant Approach in the Newgate Hurdle, despite the fact that the 12 year-old hasn't visited the winner's enclosure for more than four years.
His jockey Ruby Walsh should also make his presence felt by scoring on Miss Toulon in the Sean Shields Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle, and Rare Ouzel in the Athlumney Farms Handicap Chase.
Geill Sli is the top-rated horse in Navan Golf Club Maiden Hurdle, and the eightyear-old, a good bumper horse in his day, will never have a better opportunity to open his account over timber. Shanshampshire ranks as the danger.
