BUNCRANA and Mount Merrionbased furniture and piano retail company Flanagans has just added another string to its bow, having been granted the contract to furnish Ireland's embassy in Romania.
The east European country is not expected to accede to the EU until next year, but plans for the embassy are already well under way, with the company's contracts division working closely with the architects in Bucharest.
A solid cherry double pedestal desk with leather inlay is just one of the custom-made items going into the embassy, along with solid cherry side tables, cherry-glazed bookcases with granite tops, solid oak double pedestal desks, an oak three-door bookcase, and an impressive five-piece cherry conference table.
The OPW contract went out to tender last year, and Flanagans was the successful applicant. The reason for that, according to project manager Christopher Flanagan, is that the family-owned company offers a bespoke service.
"We are one of the few firms still making our own furniture and we manufacture in quality woods, producing handmade, custommade pieces and with a quick lead time."
Flanagans Contract Division is at 074 -936 2000
