THE Pat Flynn-trained Bahrain Storm was a convincing winner of the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden at Tramore yesterday, slamming the odds-on favourite Diyla by six lengths in the colours of Alex Stafford.
The owner has eight or 10 horses with Flynn, but unfortunately Stafford missed seeing the 2-1 chance win under Danny Grant, as he was stuck in a traffic jam.
It was a similar story in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, with the 11-8 favourite Mabel getting turned over by Siniscola, but at least the result went John Oxx's way, as he trains the 2-1 winner.
Fran Berry's mount prevailed by two lengths, and a handicap is likely to be next up.
HOLE-IN-ONE WINNER
The winner of this week's hole-inone competition and the prize of a Ralph Lauren polo shirt and a fourball for the famed Doonbeg Golf club is Michael Kelly, (handicap 9), Dungarvan Golf Club who recorded his feat on the fifth hole of his home course.
Honourable mention this week to Richard Bryce (handicap 16) Royal Dublin, who had the pleasure of a hole in one on the 7th at Royal Dublin and to Rodney Palmer, (also handicap 16) Dunmurray, who aced the 7th in his own course.
