TEENAGER ARRESTED FOR TALLAGHT KIDNAP RELEASED
ONE of two teenagers arrested in connection with the alleged kidnap of a 14-year-old boy in Tallaght, Dublin was released without charge yesterday.
Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested after Brazilian-born teenager Gilmar Mandiangu told police he had been kidnapped and attacked with a pellet gun.
The 17-year-old boy was still being held for questioning yesterday under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
MAN CHARGED WITH PLOTTING TO KILL NI SECURITY PERSONNEL
A 39-YEAR-OLD man charged with plotting to kill members of the security forces and of procuring weapons appeared in court in Craigavon Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Paul McCaugherty, from Lurgan, Co Armagh, was arrested following police searches in Fermanagh and Armagh on Monday.
He is the fourth person to be charged in connection with the searches.
He was remanded in custody and will appear by video link on 20 July
MAUREEN HAUGHEY FRACTURED HIP, NOT LEG, IN FALL
MAUREEN Haughey, widow of Charles Haughey, sustained a fractured hip during a fall last Thursday and not a broken leg, a spokeswoman for the HSE confirmed yesterday.
Mrs Haughey fell while visiting her daughter Eimear Mulhearn in Kerry just a week after her husband's death.
She was brought to Cork University Hospital and was yesterday said to be in a "comfortable" condition there.
It is understood members of the Haughey family were with Mrs Haughey when the accident happened.
HEALTH AUTHORITY LAUNCHES SAFETY CAMPAIGN FOR TEENS
THE Health and Safety Authority (HSA) yesterday launched a campaign to keep young people safe from injury in the workplace.
It comes after the death on Friday of 17-year-old Sligo student Killian O'Brien, who was killed when a concrete pipe fell on him during his summer job on a construction site.
Last year, young people accounted for over a quarter of all workplace accidents, with six people dying from their injuries.
FG AND LABOUR TO LAUNCH INITIATIVE TO DEAL WITH SEX CASES
FINE Gael and the Labour Party will today publish a joint initiative to deal with a number of issues arising from the recent 'CC' case which led to the subsequent temporary release of 'Mr A' . . . a self-confessed child rapist.
Party leaders Enda Kenny and Pat Rabbitte will launch their document at noon.
