ONE of Northern Ireland's most picturesque golf courses, nestling on the shores of Strangford Lough, is on the market . . . but only offers over 3.184m can make the cut.
The Ringdufferin Country Club lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty just a few miles outside the village of Killyleagh, Co Down.
The site recently went on the market following the owner's decision to retire.
Iain McCabe of OKT, the agency handling the sale said: "In terms of what's out there in the property market right now, Ringdufferin . . . and the level of opportunity it offers . . .is absolutely unique.
"Moreover, the country club has recently benefited from a massive investment to upgrade existing structure and create a suite of new leisure facilities."
The 72-acre site boasts an 18-hole golf course; a modern fitness suite complete with training room, sauna, steam room and changing facilities; two tennis courts; a bar and restaurant; a fully fitted hairdressing and beauty salon; a major function room; and around 250 golf club members and more than 100 gym members.
McCabe added: "There's massive potential here. The site has already been earmarked for possible hotel development and there's planning permission for further extension of the clubhouse.
"Golfing is big business.
More than five million people in the UK play the game . . .and around a half a million people go on golfing holidays each year.
"With the growth of lowcost domestic and international air routes here, Northern Ireland is well placed to tap into this lucrative market."
