Heatons eyes Roches stores
Conor Brophy

DEPARTMENT store chain Heatons is among the retailers considering a bid for 11 outlets currently operated by Roches Stores, according to industry sources. Heatons is one of several parties to have made contact with Roches after it emerged that the Cork-based Roche family, which owns the company, is thinking of shutting up shop. Roches owns the freehold interest on several of its sites, including its "agship Henrys Street store in Dublin. Its portfolio includes "ve Dublin shops and outlets in Galway, Waterford, Limerick and Tralee.

It is understood the company wants to retain ownership of the properties but is seeking a retail tenant to replace its own department stores across the current Roches chain. British fashion and homewear retailer Debenhams has already held discussions with Roches. House Of Fraser and Primark, which owns the Penneys chain and has its head of"ce in Dublin, have also been mooted as potential buyers.
