Body of man found in Limerick GARDAI in Limerick are investigating the discovery of a body in the River Shannon yesterday morning. The body of the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was taken from the river at Athlunkard Bridge close to the city centre. Gardai at Mayorstone were alerted after the body was spotted by a passerby.
Garda crash victim named GARDAI yesterday named the off-duty garda who died in Friday evening's road crash in Donegal. He was 48-yearold John Naughton of Cornamucklagh, Omeath, Co Louth. He was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car in Letterkenny while he was taking part in a two-day charity cycle with the Garda Motorcycle Club.
He had been due to retire next year.
Ceremony for Lebanon TWOminutes' silence was observed yesterday morning in Dublin's Garden of Remembrance to highlight the ongoing crisis in Lebanon. More than 30 people took part in the ceremony, among them members of the Lebanese Irish community and soldiers who served in the country.
Rape reported on Cork beach GARDAI in Co Cork are investigating claims that a woman in her 20s was raped in the early hours of yesterday morning at the seaside town of Youghal. The alleged sexual assault took place on the beach. The woman was later treated at the sexual assault unit of Cork University Hospital.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

1 in 4 married A NEW study has revealed that more than one in four transsexuals who get therapy in Ireland have been or are married. The study says one in 30,000 people suffer from some form of gender identity disorder, and that early treatment could help avoid complications with spouses and children.
The study also warns of a lack of guidelines and services for patients here.
